Every
organization needs a marketing plan - a plan that acts as a road map
for identifying and selecting customer needs and wants, developing
suitable products or services, making them available for sale, and
convincing the customers to buy.
You might be
looking for increased sales, enhanced profitability or, perhaps, a
greater number of people enrolling for or buying into your views - you
need a marketing plan. A comprehensive marketing plan will give you
a clearer direction in which to concentrate your resources in order
to make your business successful.
Once shared
with your team members in your organization, a comprehensive
marketing plan also acts as a rallying point – it helps groups
of people within the company, from production, marketing, sales,
service, administration, finance, R&D and others to unite as a team,
focusing on a single objective of making the impossible possible.
Although
even the most comprehensive marketing plans differ in scope
and size, almost all comprehensive marketing plans should
focus primarily on the coming twelve months, with the next three to
five years as a strategy guideline only. After all, who knows how
the business environment is going to change in time – be it your
customers, suppliers, competitors or technology. At best, you can
guesstimate using research, trends, marketing planning expertise
and a gut feel – and hope the future turns out to be as you planned,
or close to it.
